Richard M. Sherman is perhaps best known for the song, IT'S A SMALL WORLD, co-written with his brother Robert and featured in the theme park ride of the same name at Disneyland, Disneyworld and other Disney properties. Together the Sherman Brothers were awarded two Oscars for their music in the Disney feature film, MARY POPPINS, the stage version of which currently runs on Broadway and around the world. As a composer and lyricist Mr. Sherman has written or co-written songs for films including CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, THE JUNGLE BOOK, SNOOPY COME HOME, WINNIE THE POOH, THE PARENT TRAP, THE ARISTOCATS, CHARLOTTE'S WEB, and recently for the soundtrack of IRON MAN 2 and coming soon, CAPTAIN AMERICA.
Mr. Sherman wrote 8 original songs for the upcoming book releases which include, THE THREE LITTLE PIGS, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK and LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD. Instrumental versions will be available on Itunes, as free downloads, culminating with the release of a full album of original music including lyrics in 2011.
"When initially approached by the partners, I was intrigued by the way they approached the re-telling of these stories and the wonderfully unique characters and the worlds they created," Mr. Sherman said. "Pop-up books have been a favorite of mine since I was boy, and after one viewing of the first book, I realized I would be part of something extraordinary and amazing!"
